I received an e-mail that accused me "glossing over the truth about the homeless" and of using this blog to try and "make people feel sorry for the homeless." The sender of the e-mail went on to say that they’ve met a number of homeless people and that all of the homeless they’ve met are just lazy.
I’ve never tried to hide the fact that there are indeed numerous homeless persons who have chosen homelessness as their lifestyle. Nor, have I ever tried to deny that there are those homeless who are trouble makers, malcontents, or who don’t want to own up to the responsibility for their lives. In addition, I have pointed out that there are certainly those homeless who have drug additions or alcohol related issues. Furthermore, I’ve also openly stated that there are certain homeless individuals who will undoubtedly remain homeless for the rest of their lives. (more…)
