A couple of afternoons ago, I met with two gentlemen regarding a web site they would like to have developed. They seem to feel that I’m the person whom they want to develop the site, and of course, I want the work. So we walked a few blocks over to a small local restaurant to sit and chat.

More than once I’ve written that my day starts with a cup of coffee or a cup of hot chocolate. Of late, it’s been the hot chocolate. Actually, I like the hot chocolate better, so that’s what I’ve been getting.

Most people love chocolate, because it actually creates a somewhat euphoric feeling. Of course, now we know that it’s because chocolate causes the brain to release certain types of hormonal chemicals and that’s what gives us that slight feeling of bliss.

There are different types of chocolate: milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate and, my personal favorite, semi-sweet.   (more…)

Sleepless Nights

There is an old nursery rhyme that begins with the line:

"Now I lay me down to sleep…"

Unless a person has some sort of sleep disorder most people go through their day and then at one point or another in the evening will find themselves going through the routine of getting themselves ready for bed. When they finally do fall to sleep they will get some sort of rest that their bodies require to function the next day.   (more…)

Over the past few days I’ve been noticing that someone or a number of "someones" have been doing Google searches to ask the question: "Why don’t the homeless get jobs."

Google adds this blog as one of the links.

Although I’ve addressed this particular issue in a number of my more recent posts, I’ve seen where perhaps I should address this topic again – but most because I’m not sure if the question being asked is about why it seems that the homeless don’t want to get a job, or if the question is why the homeless aren’t able to employment. While to many it may seem that they are one in the same, let me assure you that they aren’t.   (more…)

No matter how strong a personality someone has or how self-sufficient a person is, there are times when there is just a need for companionship and needing to belong somewhere.

Most folks has a "regular" group of friends or associates who make up their little circle; a place where they can feel like they belong – or a least a place where they feel they fit in. And even for a person doesn’t do much socializing there is still a feeling that they "belong" within the community.   (more…)
